In the IoT world, DIY Makers will want their devices or works to be connected to the outside. The author always focuses on connectivity so that he can use Internet when he is working on his project.

However, some DIY makers lack expertise to consider external connectivity. If it is possible to solve this problem with simple operation, it might be icing on the cake.

What is Ethernet?

Ethernet is one of many ways to connect to the Internet.

What is WIZ820io?

WIZ820io is one of the Ethernet device from WIZnet. It can connect to the internet using TCP/IP through MCU and SPI Interface.

WIZ820io is a compact size network module that includes a W5200 (TCP/IP hardwired chip and PHY embedded), a transformer and RJ45. It can be used as a component and no effort is required to interface W5200 and Transformer. The WIZ820io is an ideal option for users who want to develop their Internet enabling systems rapidly. WIZ820io is hardware compatible with WIZ850io.

Tutorial: Controlling Servo / Webcam via webserver, Wiz820io and Garagino

This project is a server with Garagino and Wiznet Ethernet module, and thus an HTML page that displays the buttons that control the servos connected to the Pan / Tilt.


This project shows how to control the direction of Webcam using WIZ820io for internet connection. Arduino Ethernet is also available to use for this project. This is relatively well-organized project.

WIZ820io: Porting Guide about EmIDE and Nucleo Board

This is a simple project based on EmIDE(gcc) since commercial compiler is not free which shows how to port from EmIDE and Nucleo Board using WIZnet network module product, WIZ820io.


The author used ST MCU of Nucleo board for this WIZ820io project. If you are using mbed Nucleo board used as IoT platform, you can design Ethernet products quickly because it is easier to configure prototype
